Landscape Photography Field Workflow

Landscape photography can be decomposed into planning, exposure, composition, focusing, subject strategy, and field-risk control. A stable workflow reduces randomness and turns weather, terrain, light, and equipment selection into repeatable photographic decisions.

Planning and Location Preparation

The planning stage includes destination marking, location refinement, weather judgment, and light-window selection. Map markers preserve potential viewpoints. Exposure and Dynamic Range

Landscape scenes often contain high dynamic range: bright sky, reflective water, snow, desert highlights, and dark ground can coexist. Spot metering alone can be misleading. A histogram gives a more direct view of clipped highlights and blocked shadows.
